Hi, I am in the middle of doing some research on the Bell Witch for a school project, and I ran across your website. I've read several different accounts of the Bell Witch story, and I wondered if you could clear up some of the mixed information I've come across. Some of the accounts I've read stated that Kate Batts died the same year or before the Bell Witch showed up, while others say she was still alive and so the thought of the ghost being Kate Batts coming back to haunt John Bell is impossible, but she could have been participating in witch-craft. Do you happen to know whether or not Kate Batts was alive or dead at the time the Bell Witch appeared? You also said something about Joel Egbert Bell... who is this? Through all the accounts I've studied, I've read that there were five Bell children, named Betsy, John Jr., Jesse, Drewry, and Richard. Are these names correct? Thank you for any help you can or will give. It is greatly appriciated.
