General

• All arrangements are made in writing, through e-mail.

• If a book signing is involved, the author retains all book proceeds.

 

Individual Speaking Engagements

Pat Fitzhugh is available for individual speaking engagements at civic group meetings, luncheons, dinners, workshops, and other functions.

• A minimum of two weeks notice is required. E-mail is the preferred communication channel.

• Pat does not charge an honorarium for speaking engagements. If an honorarium or donation is offered, however, it will be accepted and used to keep The Bell Witch Site running, and to offset expenses associated with research trips.

• Mileage expense at the IRS rate of $.56 per mile, all total mileage to and from the engagement, are required. For example, if the engagement is 20 miles away, the mileage expense would be $22.40 (20 miles x 2 = 40 miles, x .56 cents a mile).  If the engagement is more than 50 miles from downtown Nashville, mileage expense + hotel expense (if applicable) is required.

• If a book sale and signing are held in conjunction with the individual engagement, Pat Fitzhugh will retain all of the book sale proceeds. The featured books will be "The Bell Witch: The Full Account," and/or "Ghostly Cries From Dixie."

 

Lecture / Signing / Meet-Greet Events (formerly known as Mega-Lectures)

These are larger events, usually put on by libraries, colleges and universities, bookstores, cultural heritage centers, and businesses that cater to readers of historic hauntings. Over the years, these events have taken a form of their own, which has proven both fun and informative. These events typically draw 40-60 people, and occasionally 100 or more. One in October of 2016 drew 175.

• A minimum of one month's notice is required (3 months is preferred). E-mail is the preferred communication channel.

• The format for this event type is: 1) 60 to 90-minute lecture, followed by 2) 15-minute Q&A session, followed by 3) a 30 to 60 minute book signing and meet-greet with the author/speaker.

• The venue agrees to furnish a podium or similar object for the lecture, a sound system (preferred, but not required), and a chair, table, and table cloth for the book signing and meet-greet.

• The venue agrees to actively advertise the event to the public for at least 30 days leading up to the event night. Pat Fitzhugh will be doing the same, including paid advertising.

• The featured books will be "The Bell Witch: The Full Account," and/or "Ghostly Cries From Dixie."

Radio and TV Basic Interviews

• A minimum of one week's notice is required. E-mail is the preferred communication channel.

• Pat Fitzhugh does radio interviews over Skype (or by phone if Skype is not available).

• When e-mailing to request an interview, please list the name of your show, provide a link, and briefly describe the angle you plan to take on the interview topic.

 

TV Shows, Documentaries, and Movies

• A minimum of one month's notice is required. E-mail is the preferred communication channel.

• On-camera, major roles only. No gopher, legwork, or other behind-the-scenes work.

• When e-mailing to request participation, please list the name of your production, provide a link, and describe the angle you plan to take on the topic. Also, please describe how your production will be genuine, unique, and different from all of the other Bell Witch productions; in other words, why your production will be relevant and matter.
